Somat SpA holds the concession for the towage service in the Sicilian ports of Palermo, Trapani and Marsala. Its fleet of tugs also guarantees a valid assistance service for ships carrying flammable materials or materials at high risk of pollution, thanks to wide-ranging fire-fighting systems and equipment suitable for the immediate recovery of any polluting substances spilled into the sea.

Through its participation in the Castalia Ecolmar consortium company, Somat SpA carries out an anti-pollution monitoring and prevention service under an agreement with the Ministry of the Environment.

Somat SpA offers towing and assistance services to ships calling at Oil&Gas terminals in Italy and abroad, counting among its customers some of the main operators in the sector.

The company fleet is also often engaged in off-shore works of variable duration and level of complexity, such as the transport of concrete caissons or other elements necessary for the execution of maritime works, the towing of ships, owned or operated pontoons, sections of ships etc., with a range in the Mediterranean Sea, the Black Sea, Northern Europe and West Africa.

In July 2018 the subsidiary Somat SpA acquired the Compagnia Trasporti Petrolio Srl Concessionaire of the towing service in Porto Empedocle.
